Square Enix and United Front Games have been hard at work keeping us in the know about their latest game, Sleeping Dogs. The newest trailer “Sleeping Dogs 101″ is a comprehensive video summary narrating and showcasing the game’s key features. It is very reminiscent of the trailer they did for Hitman: Absolution, which by the way, is a good thing. Things the trailer touches on in particular are advanced martial arts and environmental and weapon combat. Also for when your enemies to try evade you the game also employs what seems to be a sleek parkour mechanic for moving seamlessly through crowded environments.
What would an open world game be without robust driving components? Well, crap, but that too doesn’t seem to be an issue for Sleeping Dogs as this video displays some awesome vehicular combat and control. Also some Just Cause/Pursuit Force vehicle hijacking mechanics have been thrown into the mix and will be sure to escalate typical chase missions to a whole other level. The trailer shows a whole lot more, but I’d rather have you see it action.
The development story behind Sleeping Dogs has been an interesting one to say the least, but I am happy to say that this game is shaping up to be a hit. It has all the ingredients to live up to the hard boiled pedigree of Hong Kong action cinema and I’m genuinely excited to get my hands on this game come August.
