Daniel Craig returns to the big screen later this year in the twenty-third James Bond film, Skyfall, and after the release of the first two full-length trailers last week, the anticipation has been raised that much higher.
In tandem with the films’ 50th Anniversary, and coinciding rather nicely with the upcoming release of Skyfall, Sky Movies have announced that this October, they will be launching a Bond-dedicated channel – Sky Movies 007 HD – that will feature the full twenty-two-film back catalogue, as well as two non-EON titles with 1967’s Casino Royale and 1983’s Never Say Never Again.
All the films have recently been restored and given the HD treatment – and will be released in a 22-film collection later this year on Blu-ray – and will be available for Sky customers free of adverts, in glorious high definition.
The channel will launch on 5th October, marking the 50th anniversary of the London premiere of Dr. No back on 5th October, 1962, which gives you just enough time to watch the entire back catalogue (one film per night and one double-bill) before the release of Skyfall on 26th October here in the UK, followed by 9th November in the US.
SKY MOVIES 007 HD LAUNCHES IN OCTOBER
Sky Movies HD will dedicate an entire channel to the full James Bond film catalogue from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc (MGM). SKY MOVIES 007 HD will be available to customers throughout October 2012.
For the first time in history all twenty-two Bond films, as well as two non-EON titles 1967 Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again, will be available to enjoy in one place, in HD and without commercial interruption.
Bond fans will have the films at their fingertips via Sky Movies’ comprehensive TV on-demand service Sky Anytime+, with all of the films also available on demand and on the move via Sky Go, Sky’s award-winning multiplatform TV service available across PC, Mac, laptop, iPhone, iPad and Android phones. In addition, customers who subscribe to Sky Movies via NOW TV, the brand new internet TV service from Sky, will also be able to enjoy entire the Bond catalogue. The twenty-third film in the franchise, Skyfall, will be available to rent through Sky Store and on Sky Movies in 2013.
The films arrive on Sky Movies to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the franchise, with the first film, DR NO, released on 5 October 1962.
Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies comments, “The Bond movies are a very special franchise and we want to ensure that our customers will be able to experience it in a way they’ve never been able to before, and so we’re going to create a dedicated channel SKY MOVIES 007 HD devoted entirely to James Bond showing the entire catalogue of films and loads of extra material. We’re delighted that our customers will have the best Bond movie-watching experience ever with Sky Movies – uninterrupted, in HD, on demand and on the go.”
