Joseph-Gordon-Levitt-and-Gary-Oldman-in-The-Dark-Knight-RisesYesterday, we heard a rather awesome rumour surrounding Joseph Gordon-Levitt, with a report suggesting that he’d be starring as Batman in the upcoming Justice League film.

Having heard earlier in the week that Zack Snyder has been teasing that next summer’s Man of Steel could tie into Justice League, the additional possibility of Gordon-Levitt donning the cape and cowl was a dream, which would have kicked off the upcoming DC Universe with Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

But sadly, it appears that it was in fact just a rumour, and just a dream that I was definitely enjoying entertaining.

Hollywood.com have spoken to the actor’s representation, and they have reportedly refuted the rumour entirely.

Admittedly, they likely would be refuting the rumour whether or not it is true, so I’ll continue to hold a flicker of hope until we hear official confirmation on exactly who will be playing Batman in the coming Justice League.

Warner Bros. announced over the summer that they had previously and quietly set Will Beall (Castle, Gangster Squad) to pen the script for a long-awaited Justice League movie, which is expected to bring together at least Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and quite possibly more, including Aquaman and Green Lantern.

Ever since, there have been rumours aplenty as to who would be taking the helm and who might be stepping in front of cameras.

Snyder’s comments would certainly suggest that we might have our Superman in Henry Cavill, who is taking the lead in next summer’s Man of Steel, but even that isn’t official just yet.

For now, we’ll just have to be patient until the studio are ready to announce further details.

Justice League is expected to hit theatres in Summer 2015, and we cannot wait to see how it unfolds. Man of Steel is looking absolutely immense, and will be released on 14th June, 2013, and if it is indeed the start of a new DC Universe, things are looking pretty good on both sides of the Marvel / DC aisles.
