Revolution

Fifteen years after our world experienced a global blackout, electricity is yet to return and society as we know it has crumbled. That’s the setting for NBC’s Revolution, which wrapped up its first season on Sky1 earlier this year, and is returning to U.S. screens later this week. But while we wait patiently for the series to return to TV on this side of the pond, too, Revolution: Season One is hitting DVD and Blu-Ray on Monday, September 30, and we were lucky enough to interview some of the cast members ahead of the release.

First up is newcomer Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Charlie Matheson, and Billy Burke (Twilight), who plays Charlie’s Uncle Miles. They’re the heroes of the show, who set off to save Charlie’s brother from, and then attempt to take down, the villainous Monroe Republic. We spoke to Tracy and Billy about what it was like working together, approaching the show from very different screen backgrounds, the show’s supportive fan base, and Revolution’s showrunner, Eric Kripke.

Next up is our chat with David Lyons (ER, The Cape), and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), who play the Monroe Republic’s leader President Sebastian Monroe and his henchman Major Tom Neville, respectively. We asked the show’s major antagonists about how villainous they felt their characters really were, what attracted them to the show, and what we might expect to see from the characters as the show progresses. But it wasn’t all Revolution talk, and we also managed to ask about the pair’s links to other shows as diverse as The Cape, Sesaame Street, Breaking Bad and Community. Enjoy!

Revolution season one is out on Blu-ray and DVD on 30 September.
