John Hillcoat’s Lawless is one of the most anticipated films of the year, debuting at Cannes back in May to excellent first reviews – you can read our own here.
Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf lead an all-star cast, and after the new featurette we saw from the film last week, a brilliant new red-band trailer and a handful of clips have debuted online.
“LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.”
Starring alongside Hardy and LaBeouf will be Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska, Jason Clarke, and Dane DeHaan, with Hillcoat directing from a script by Nick Cave, who adapts the original novel by Matt Bondurant, The Wettest County in the World.
The film will see its UK premiere next week on 27th August, and if you’re reading this before midnight this Friday, 24th August, you can click here to enter our competition to win tickets. (Good luck!)
Lawless will be released by The Weinstein Company in the US next week, on 29th August, before coming to UK shores on 7th September, and given the major talent involved, we could well be looking at an early contender for the coming awards season. For now, enjoy this brilliant red-band trailer – as you can judge from the rating, it’s not suitable for work – followed by the new clips.
