We may be months away from the nominations, but I think Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph is already a strong contender for this year’s Best Animated Feature. All that we’ve seen so far has been beyond impressive, and I think the studio’s latest animated comedy is going to go down a treat with all ages.
John C. Reilly leads a great voice cast as the eponymous Wreck-It Ralph, joined by the likes of Sue Lynch, Jack McBrayer, Sarah Silverman, Alan Tudyk, Dennis Haysbert, and Ed O’Neill.
“Wreck-It Ralph (voice of Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan—win a medal—but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?”
Twice Emmy-winning Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama) is behind the camera, whose impressive credits suggest the film is in very safe hands, with Moore directing from a script by Phil Johnston (Cedar Rapids) and newcomer Jennifer Lee.
Wreck-It Ralph will be released in 3D in the US on 2nd November this year, putting it in prime position for an awards campaign in the successive months. Here in the UK, it will arrive on our screens a little later on 15th February, 2013, but it looks like it will be well worth the wait. Here are the great new TV spots to prove why. Enjoy.
