First Trailer for Diablo Cody’s Paradise with Julianne Hough, Russell Brand and Octavia Spencer

Paradise-PosterDiablo Cody, the Oscar-winning writer behind Juno, makes her anticipated directorial debut this year with Paradise, previously known as Lamb of God.

Led by Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, and Octavia Spencer, the comedy-drama will be arriving first on the small screens, via DirecTV, before heading into cinemas in the US this October. And now the first trailer has landed online.

After a nearly fatal accident, 21-year-old Lamb Mannerheim (Hough) is beginning to realize that the world is much bigger than her small, God-fearing Montana town. Armed with a big, fat insurance payout and a checklist of untried sins, there’s only one place for her first taste of temptation… Las Vegas! And, with the help of a few new friends (Brand and Spencer), Lamb embarks on an oddball odyssey of lost souls, broken faith and cheap cocktails… a true journey of the heart.

Hough, Brand, and Spencer top an undeniably impressive cast, with support from Nick Offerman (who looks brilliant here with a balding hair cut) and Holly Hunter.

Cody is directing from her own script, and executive produces alongside producer Mason Novick (Juno, (500) Days of Summer).

The writer-director recently took to Twitter to announce the film’s arrival on the small screen before its theatrical release, writing:

Most directors force you to LEAVE THE HOUSE to see their movie– you can watch mine naked with a bag of Mint Milanos.

Paradise will premiere on DirecTV on August 8th, before heading into US cinemas on October 18th. No word yet on a UK release date, but hopefully Cody’s recognition, coupled with Hough’s success leading Safe Haven and Russell Brand’s general fame on our shores will see it head into cinemas later this year.
