This year, we get to see Michael Bay take to non-blockbuster territory with the release of Pain and Gain. He’s doing so with a blockbuster-sized cast, though, with an awesome leading trio in Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, and Anthony Mackie.

The first trailer landed just before Christmas last year, and if you weren’t looking forward to it before then, it definitely should have given you a nudge in the right direction.

With its release date fast approaching, Paramount have released a new TV spot for the film, set to the amazing tune of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop (which has almost 190m. views on YouTube, at time of writing).

From acclaimed director Michael Bay comes “Pain & Gain,” a new action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie. Based on the unbelievable true story of three personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong.

Wahlberg, Johnson, and Mackie are joined by a great cast, led by Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Ken Jeong, Rebel Wilson, and Tony Shalhoub.

Bay is directing from a script penned by writing duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger), based on an original article by Pete Collins.

The film has been a passion project for Bay, and marks his first time behind the camera following the end of the first trilogy in the Transformers franchise, before returning to helm the as-yet-untitled Transformers 4.

Pain and Gain will be released in the US on April 26th, with its UK release date following a week later on 3rd May. Here’s the great new TV spot to get you in the mood.

And in case you haven’t heard it already, or seen the video, here in the brilliant song that you hear in the above TV spot.
