Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, and Anthony Mackie make for a brilliant leading trio, and smart money says that their chemistry is going to be a lot of fun on screen in a few months’ time.
“From acclaimed director Michael Bay comes “Pain & Gain,” a new action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie. Based on the unbelievable true story of three personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong.”
Starring alongside Wahlberg, Johnson, and Mackie is a great supporting cast, headed up by Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Ken Jeong, Rebel Wilson, and Tony Shalhoub.
Bay is directing from a script penned by writing duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger), based on an original article by Pete Collins.
The film marks the first feature we’ve seen from Bay since before he began helming the Transformers franchise, and I for one can’t wait to see what he brings to the table in Pain and Gain. He and Wahlberg have clearly had an awesome time filming, with Wahlberg reuniting with Bay to shoot Transformers 4 this year. And that’s definitely a good sign that we’ve got a lot to look forward to here.
Pain and Gain will be released in the US on 26th April, with its UK release date set slightly later for 3rd May. This is going to be immense.
