Out-of-the-Furnace-PosterReturning behind the camera for his sophomore feature, following 2009’s acclaimed Crazy Heart, Scott Cooper’s Out of the Furnace promises to be another very strong contender come awards season at the end of the year.

Boasting a leading cast topped by Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, and Casey Affleck, the film is set for a release in late November/early December, giving it a prime position on the calendar. And with that release date already in sight, the first poster and images have debuted via EW and USA Today.

Russell and his younger brother Rodney live in the economically-depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. But when a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast – a mistake that will almost cost him everything. Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice for his brother.

Starring alongside Bale, Harrelson, and Affleck will be Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Zoë Saldana, Sam Shepard, and Boyd Holbrook.

Cooper is directing from a script he co-wrote with Brad Ingelsby (The Dynamiter, Hold on to Me), with Leonardo DiCaprio serving as producer.

Out of the Furnace is set to begin its limited release in the US on November 27th, before being released in the UK on 29th November and wide in the US on December 6th.
