Transformers:-Age-of-Extinction-sliceWith the film set to launch a new trilogy for Paramount, Michael Bay returned to the fold for the fourth instalment, bringing Transformers: Age of Extinction to the big screen next summer.

Whilst we’ve seen a handful of shots of the human cast on set, and the titular transformers in their vehicular formats, one thing missing has been seeing them in their (excuse me) prime. But no more.

The latest issue of Empire hits the shelves on Thursday, and Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction takes centre stage on the cover, revealing the first good look at Optimus Prime, following the reveal of his revamp earlier in the year.

The official plot details are still being kept under wraps, but we know that Age of Extinction takes place four years on from Dark of the Moon, and the title nods to an appearance from the Dinobots alongside the Autobots and Decepticons.

Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, and Nicola Peltz lead the cast this time around, with Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, Titus Welliver, and T.J. Miller completing the ensemble nicely.

Bay is directing from a script penned by past collaborator Ehren Kruger (Transformers: Dark of the Moon), with Lorenzo di Bonaventura naturally producing once more.

Transformers: Age of Extinction will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on June 27th, 2014 in the US, with its UK release date currently set for 10th July.
