Oblivion-PosterJoseph Kosinski makes his anticipated return behind the camera this year with Oblivion, following a remarkable debut directing TRON: Legacy back in 2010. The sci-fi actioner sees Tom Cruise front and centre this spring, and I can’t wait for it to hit.

We were treated to an awesome new trailer yesterday, giving us a brilliant new look at the upcoming blockbuster. And now we’ve got a great new poster to go with it, with Cruise naturally taking centre stage.

“On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.”

Starring alongside Cruise in Oblivion will be Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough, Olga Kurylenko, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Melissa Leo, and Zoë Bell.

Kosinki is directing from a script co-written by himself, William Monahan, Karl Gajdusek, and Michael Arndt, based on an original graphic novel by Kosinski and Arvid Nelson.

And providing the soundtrack for the film will be the brilliant M83, which means we have one hell of a score to look forward to here.

Oblivion will be released in the UK on 12th April. In the US, it will land in IMAX theatres on 12th April, before its wide US release date a week later on 19th April. For now, here’s the great new poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
