New US Poster for Liberal Arts with Josh Radnor & Elizabeth Olsen

Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) returned to Sundance this year with his brilliant sophomore feature behind the camera, Liberal Arts, where it was wonderfully well received.

It was one of the fourteen films selected to make up the Sundance London line-up, which is where I saw and fell in love with the film, and after its brilliant first trailer landed yesterday, The Playlist have debuted the new US poster, ahead of its release next month.

“Newly single, 35, and uninspired by his job, Jesse Fisher worries that his best days are behind him. But no matter how much he buries his head in a book, life keeps pulling Jesse back. When his favourite college professor invites him to campus to speak at his retirement dinner, Jesse jumps at the chance. He is prepared for the nostalgia of the dining halls and dorm rooms, the parties and poetry seminars; what he doesn’t see coming is Zibby – a beautiful, precocious, classical-music-loving sophomore. Zibby awakens scary, exciting, long-dormant feelings of possibility and connection that Jesse thought he had buried forever.”

Radnor is directing from his own script, and he stars opposite the rapidly-rising Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), both of whom excel in the leads, with great support from Richard Jenkins, Allison Janney, Elizabeth Reaser, and an excellent turn from Zac Efron, who is increasingly choosing more and more diverse roles.

There’s something about Radnor’s film, from script on up, that just had me captivated from the start. Maybe it’s because I’m still a college/uni student myself, but the film is one of the best drama-comedies I’ve seen in as long as I can remember, and I can’t wait for a second viewing.

Liberal Arts will be released in the US on 14th September, before heading to the UK on 5th October. Mark the relevant date in your calendar, because this is one you won’t want to miss. And as usual with this new poster, you can click to enlarge.
