Whilst plenty have soared at the box office, plenty more animated movies have also had trouble getting off the ground this year, and it will be interesting to see where Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 will land next month – there’s a very good chance it will be riding high, but this has been quite a volatile year for what has and hasn’t been a hit.
It’s been over a month since the latest trailer landed online, and Sony have now released a new TV spot online ahead of the sequel’s release in a few weeks’ time.
When inventor Flint Lockwood discovers that his most infamous machine – the FLDSMDFR – is still operating and is now creating giant mutant food beasts that threaten to destroy civilization, he knows he’s the only one who can stop it. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Flint and his friends must embark on a dangerously delicious mission battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world… again!
Anna Faris and Bill Hader lead the voice cast once more, with Andy Samberg, James Caan, Neil Patrick Harris, Terry Crews, Kristen Schaal, Will Forte, and Benjamin Bratt starring alongside them.
Newcomers Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn are at the helm this time around, co-writing the script with Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. And original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have stayed on as executive producers.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 will be released in the US on September 27th, with its UK release date landing a little later on 25th October.
