All that we’ve seen of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones’ return to the Men in Black franchise is strongly suggesting a big box office success that should hit all the right notes for fans of the first two films as well as newcomers.
The pair will be joined by Josh Brolin (as a young Agent K), along with Emma Thompson, Alice Eve, Bill Hader, Nicole Scherzinger, and the excellent Jemaine Clement.
After the latest trailer surfaced last month, we now have a new TV spot and three new images of Clement as the lead villain and Scherzinger as Lily Poison.
“In Men in Black III, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.”
Barry Sonnenfeld returns behind the camera for the sci-fi action-comedy, and with all of the main original talent on board, I’m definitely inclined to think this will be a lot of fun.
Men in Black III will be released in 3D on 25th May both in the UK and US, so be sure to seek it out in your local cinema at the end of next month. In the UK, that weekend will see it going up against Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom and Kirk Jones’ What To Expect When You’re Expecting, all three of which are largely aimed at different audiences, so hopefully it should be a healthy box office result all round.
