New Trailer Shows the Weight of “The Debt”

StumbleUponRedditPinterestShare

We showed you a poster a few days back for “The Debt”, the latest film from John Madden (Shakespeare in Love, Mrs Brown), all about three Israeli Mossad agents who venture into East Berlin looking for the Surgeon of Birkenau, a notorious Nazi who had experimented on people during the Holocaust. The film matches the 1965 pursuit of the Surgeon with the more present day struggles of the now more aged Israelis, as they continue to try to come to terms with all that unfolded during that mission.

The trailer is suitably atmospheric and portentous, giving us lots of very earnest seeming performances and plenty of heft to all of the emoting. It looks like this might be a highly engaging piece and (as is so often the case), here’s to hoping it can keep up with expectations.

Enjoy the trailer below – The Debt is due out in the US late in August 2011.

About Dave Roper

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days.
