The Luc Besson-produced sci-fi actioner, Lockout, might not currently be on your radar, but it really looks like it should be if it’s not. We saw an awesome new trailer for the film last month, which reunites Besson with Maggie Grace (Taken) alongside Guy Pearce (Memento) in the lead, and things are looking good.
“A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.”
The film marks the feature directorial debuts of James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, who share screenwriting duties with Besson, produced under Besson’s EuropaCorp banner.
Also known as MS One: Maximum Security and Lock-Out (and apparently also Lock Out, judging by the spacing in this new poster), Lockout will be hitting cinemas in the UK on 20th April, so less than two months to go until it reaches us, with the US getting it on the same day too.
As I started this off by saying, if this wasn’t already on your radar, you might want to make a note of it now. It looks like it should be both crazy and fun. Guy Pearce has had a mix of great and not-so-great characters to play, but when he’s good, he’s very good. And this looks pretty good. As usual with (most of) these new images and the new international poster, you can click to enlarge.
