Bullet to the Head StalloneNever one to grow old gracefully Sly Stallone has smashed his way back into our collective consciousness this week, firstly by muscling his entire ensemble cast off of the poster for The Expendables 2 and then by giving us a peek at him apparently doing some sort of violent squat related workout in new film Bullet to the Head.

Making it his personal mission to show that even once you reach retirement age you don’t have to stop killing people, it’s looking like it’s going to be a big year for old Sly. Ever the hard worker it’s reported that since coming on board to star in Headshot under the directorial eye of Wayne Kramer he has completely overhauled the script himself whilst also finding time to change the title and indeed the director after he and Kramer had ‘creative differences’.

Now Walter Hill is at the helm of the good ship Bullet to the Head and all is looking ship-shape in this first full image from the film:

Despite a scant shortage of bullets many have taken the axe to axe still to be a nod to bonkers 1986 Stallone vehicle Cobra. A film so ridiculously over the top that it became somewhat of a cult classic. Here’s to hoping it is and that the final film turns out to be as knowingly facile as the plot makes it out to be.

Based upon a Matz and Colin Wilson graphic novel Stallone plays Jimmy Bobo, a hitman who teams with a young NYPD detective (Sung Kang) in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of New Orleans. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.

Arriving in the UK on April 13th with a vintage mans man director at helm and an inexplicably buff (or explicably depending on your level of cynicism) Sly starring, Bullet to the Head looks to be quite the senior testostathon. Imagine Fight Club, just with more steroid abuse and sponsored by Werther’s Originals.
