Johnny-Depp-in-The-Lone-RangerWith Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer leading the way, Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger is shaping up to be a very promising blockbuster arriving in theatres this summer. The first full-length trailer landed late last year, giving us an awesome look at the latest reunion of Verbinski and Depp.

Disney recently released a great new poster and preview for the Super Bowl TV Spot, with the full spot launching during the game this Sunday. And now they’ve debuted a great new hi-res image, with Depp seemingly confused by the famous white stallion, Silver.

“Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice–taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.”

Depp and Hammer are joined by a fine cast, headed up by Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Verbinski is also reuniting with writing duo Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott, who penned all four Pirates films, and who co-wrote the script with Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road).

With Depp, Verbinski, Rossio, and Elliott all reuniting here, there’s definitely a lot of promise for another great blockbuster in The Lone Ranger from the Pirates filmmakers. And naturally we’re really looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

The Lone Ranger will be hitting US theatres in the height of the summer on 3rd July, with its UK release date set for 9th August. This is going to be a lot of fun. Be sure to come back on Sunday, when we’ll have the full Super Bowl TV spot as soon as it hits. For now, here’s the new hi-res image, which you can click through to enlarge.
