Premiering to incredibly strong reviews at Telluride and TIFF, Ben Affleck’s Argo has emerged as a strong contender in the Best Picture and Director categories in the coming awards season.

We saw three character posters for Affleck and co-stars John Goodman and Alan Arkin earlier in the week, and now Bryan Cranston is front and centre of the latest.

“Based on true events, Warner Bros. Pictures’ and GK Films’ dramatic thriller “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis–the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.”

Affleck takes the lead as expert exfiltrator, Tony Mendez, with Goodman, Arkin, Cranston, Scoot McNairy, Kyle Chandler, Taylor Schilling, Clea DuVall, and Tate Donovan completing the cast nicely.

Chris Terrio has penned the script, adapting the fascinating original 2007 Wired article by Joshuah Bearman, How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran, which you can (and should) read here.

Argo will be released in the US in two weeks on 12th October, followed by a 7th November release in the UK, after its UK premiere at the London Film Festival on 17th October. This is a film that should have everyone talking, and I can’t wait to see it for myself. For now, here’s Cranston gracing the latest poster, which you can click to enlarge.
