Man-of-Steel-PosterZack Snyder’s Man of Steel is inching ever closer, and the countdown currently stands at just eight days. Eight days! The excitement is palpable, and the Internet has been abuzz for months ahead of next weekend’s release.

All signs point to an epic new franchise-starter, which has the potential to launch a DC Cinematic Universe for Warner Bros., comparable to the Marvel Cinematic Universe now owned by Disney.

And with just days to go before Man of Steel hits the big screen, a final trailer has been released in partnership with Warner Bros. and Nokia, giving us an awesome new look at the film. You might well remember that the two companies joined forces to bring us an epic The Dark Knight Rises Nokia trailer last summer, and no doubt this is a continued relationship that will be revisited in the years to come.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Henry Cavill is front and centre as the eponymous Man of Steel himself, Kal-El / Superman / Clark Kent. And he is joined by a terrific cast, led by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Richard Schiff, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, and Laurence Fishburne.

Snyder is directing from a script penned by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy), who co-wrote the story with Christopher Nolan.

Man of Steel will be released in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D on June 14th in the US and UK, which is definitely a release date you should commit to memory. This is going to be epic. Here’s the awesome new trailer to prove it.
