Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man is finally just over a month away from release, and things are looking excellent for the summer blockbuster.
We’ve seen plenty from the film already to convince us of it being a big success, and now we have a great new image of the ever-brilliant Emma Stone to share, courtesy of the film’s official Facebook, starring as the female lead, Gwen Stacy, opposite Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man / Peter Parker.
“The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.”
Rhys Ifans stars alongside the leading duo as the Lizard, with support coming from Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Denis Leary, C. Thomas Howell, Irrfan Khan, and of course Stan Lee himself.
Webb made a name for himself with his feature directorial debut, (500) Days of Summer, back in 2009, and is making his blockbuster debut here with his first superhero outing, and the footage we’ve seen definitely suggests to me he was the right man for the job.
Composing the score will be James Horner in his first big film since The Karate Kid in 2010, so you know the music is going to be incredible, which is always a good sign.
The Amazing Spider-Man will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on 3rd July in the UK and US, so make sure you clear your calendars for any day that week/end, because this is going to be awesome. You can catch up on all our coverage for the film here, and as usual with the new image below, you can click to enlarge.
