Jason Schwartzman leads a stellar ensemble as the eponymous Philip, an author waiting for the publication of his second novel.

Anger rages in Philip as he awaits the publication of his sure-to-succeed second novel. He feels pushed out of his adopted home city by the constant crowds and noise, a deteriorating relationship with his photographer girlfriend Ashley, and his own indifference to promoting the novel. When Philip’s idol, Ike Zimmerman, offers his isolated summer home as a refuge, he finally gets the peace and quiet to focus on his favorite subject—himself.

Elisabeth Moss stars opposite as his photographer girlfriend, with Krysten Ritter, Jonathan Pryce, Josephine de La Baume, Jess Weixler, Dree Hemingway, Keith Poulson, Kate Lyn Sheil, and Eric Bogosian completing the cast nicely.

Alex Ross Perry (The Color Wheel) is behind the camera, directing from his own script, with Joshua Blum (Margin Call), David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints), Toby Halbrooks (Upstream Color), James M. Johnston (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints), and Katie Stern (Francine) producing.

Schwartzman is coming off the back of a brilliant performance in Saving Mr. Banks, and will soon be seen reuniting with frequent collaborator Wes Anderson in The Grand Budapest Hotel. And with Schwartzman also working once more with Listen Up Philip co-star Krysten Ritter on Tim Burton’s Big Eyes, things are definitely looking good for the actor this year.

Listen Up Philip will be making its debut to the world in Park City on January 20th, and it certainly looks like it’s one to watch if you’re at Sundance in the coming days.
