Todd Phillips has found such brilliant success in recent years with The Hangover franchise, and now Hollywood is taking the formula and spinning it old-school, with Last Vegas replacing the young lead quartet with four veterans.
Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline are front and centre for the comedy, and CBS have debuted a new trailer over on Yahoo Movies.
The first teaser trailer that launched back in the spring naturally felt a lot like The Hangover with an older cast, however entirely intentional that may have been, and this new full-length trailer continues with a similar sort of feel.
Billy (Michael Douglas), Paddy (Robert De Niro), Archie (Morgan Freeman) and Sam (Kevin Kline) have been best friends since childhood. So when Billy, the group’s sworn bachelor, finally proposes to his thirty-something (of course) girlfriend, the four head to Las Vegas with a plan to stop acting their age and relive their glory days. However, upon arriving, the four quickly realize that the decades have transformed Sin City and tested their friendship in ways they never imagined. The Rat Pack may have once played the Sands and Cirque du Soleil may now rule the Strip, but it’s these four who are taking over Vegas.
Jerry Ferrara, Mary Steenburgen, and Romany Malco star alongside the leading quartet.
And Jon Turteltaub (Cool Runnings, National Treasure) is the man behind the camera, with Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love.; Cars) penning the script.
As much as this isn’t one of my most anticipated comedies of the year, I have so much love for Fogelman’s script on Crazy, Stupid, Love., and I’m more than willing to give Last Vegas a chance. If nothing else, it should be a lot of fun to see Morgan Freeman go a little on the wild side.
Last Vegas is set to hit in the US on November 1st, and its UK release date has been brought forward to land just one week later on 8th November.
N.B. The trailer’s not strictly classified as red-band, but De Niro drops a seven-letter word starting with B, so be warned.
