Labor DayAlthough our review of Labor Day is far from effusive, Jason Reitman’s latest still looks interesting enough, even if it might fall a little short of previous efforts of his such as Young Adult, Juno and Up In The Air.

If this new clip is anything to go by (and it might well not be) there is a slightly grimier, sweatier aesthetic at work here than Reitman tends to employ and if nothing else, the title of the film is misleading, summoning up as it does thoughts of ensemble monstrosities like New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day.

We would, of course, be inclined to assume and expect strong and convincing work from Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet and even if Reitman is a little off his stride here, his talent is indisputable and one would expect to find much here to savour and enjoy.

Having had its debut at the TIFF, Labor Day will get a proper release in the US at the end of next January and then hit UK screens a week later.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
