Jupiter-Ascending-sliceFollowing their masterful work on Cloud Atlas last year, the Wachowski siblings will be back in the summer with Jupiter Ascending, set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2014.

Mila Kunis stars as the eponymous Jupiter, with Channing Tatum opposite as Caine. And with just over half a year before Warner Bros. unleashes the movie into cinemas, the first teaser trailer has debuted online.

Jupiter Jones was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine, a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along – her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Doona Bae, Vanessa Kirby, Douglas Booth, James D’Arcy, and Tuppence Middleton complete a stellar ensemble cast alongside the leading duo.

Andy and Lana Wachowski are once more directing from their own script, with Michael Giacchino reuniting with the writer-directors to compose the score.

After reinventing the wheel, somewhat, with The Matrix’s bullet time, it’s thought that the siblings will be doing the same thing once more with Jupiter Ascending, and that prospect alone is all kinds of awesome. When you get Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum to lead the sci-fi/actioner, it just keeps getting better.

Jupiter Ascending will be released in 2D and 3D on July 25th, 2014. Commit that date to memory, because this one’s going to be epic.
