Jessica Chastain (Jolene) has signed on to star in The Wettest Country, formally titled The Promised Land.
Chastain will star opposite Tom Hardy (Inception) and Shia LeBeouf (Disturbia), who both joined the production recently.
LeBeouf will portray young, meek Jack, with Hardy playing his brother Forrest and Chastain on board as his ginger-haired love interest Maggie. No word on who will play the third brother Howard.
The Wettest Country centers on the story of three brothers— Forrest, Howard and Jack in order of age and toughness —running a bootlegging gang during Prohibition whose moonshine dynasty in Franklin County, Virginia is threatened by the authorities wanting a cut.
John Hillcoat (The Road) is attached to direct, with production expected to commence in February 2011.
Chastain will next be seen in the long-delayed Terrence Malick film The Tree of Life, which is due to be released in May 2011.
