Jack the Giant Slayer will be hitting theatres in just over a month, marking the return of Bryan Singer (X-Men) in true blockbuster style.

Rising young star Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class, Warm Bodies) takes the lead as the eponymous young Jack, and we’re looking forward to seeing this new take on the classic beanstalk tale.

We saw the first TV spot arrive for the film last week. And now Warner Bros. have debuted the second, giving us another good look at the action we have coming our way shortly.

“An ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult), into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend… and gets the chance to become a legend himself.”

Hoult is joined by an impressive cast, headed up by Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Eleanor Tomlinson, Bill Nighy, Ian McShane, John Kassir, Ewen Bremner, and Eddie Marsan.

Singer (X-Men) is directing from a script written by Dan Studney (Reefer Madness), Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After), and Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects).

Jack the Giant Slayer will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 1st March in the US, with its UK release date coming slightly later on 22nd March. Singer definitely knows his way around the blockbuster genre, and with X-Men: Days of Future Past next on his slate, Jack the Giant Slayer should be a great return after a few years’ absence.
