Robert-Downey-Jr.-in-Iron-Man-3Last night, we were treated to two brilliant new TV spots for Iron Man 3. The first aired during the Super Bowl, and gave us thirty seconds of Marvel goodness. And the second then debuted online, giving us a full ninety-second extended look at the upcoming blockbuster.

Needless to say, it was a good night for comic book movie fans.

Arriving in theatres this April/May (depending on where you live), Iron Man 3 sees Robert Downey, Jr. front and centre once more as Tony Stark / Iron Man, living in a post-Avengers world. And it’s going to be one of the best films of the year. And to follow up last night’s new look at the film, we’ve had four new images from the footage sent over to share.

“Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”

Starring alongside Downey, Jr. is another awesome cast, headed up by Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, Wang Xueqi, and Ben Kingsley, with Paul Bettany reprising his role as the voice of JARVIS.

Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) is taking over the helm from Jon Favreau, directing from a script he co-wrote with Drew Pearce (the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 3, Godzilla).

Iron Man 3 will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D in the UK on 26th April, with its US release date scheduled for 3rd May. This is going to be epic. Here are the great new images, which you can click through to enlarge.

And if you missed it last night, you can see here the full extended Super Bowl TV spot.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
