I-Give-It-A-Year-Character-Poster-Rafe-Spall-and-Rose-ByrneDan Mazer’s I Give It A Year will be released in the UK in just a few short weeks, and we can’t wait for it to hit. Given what we’ve seen so far, I think it has the potential to be far and away the best British romantic comedy in years.

We saw a great new clip last week, giving us a good look at the Best Man’s speech that’s teased in the first two trailers. And now digitalspy have debuted a great new set of six character posters, giving us a new look at the leading cast.

“Since they met at a party, ambitious high-flyer Nat (Byrne) and struggling novelist Josh (Spall) have been deliriously happy despite their differences. Josh is a thinker, Nat’s a doer ..but the spark between them is undeniable.

Their wedding is a dream come true, but family, friend and even the minister who marries them aren’t convinced that they can last. Josh’s ex-girlfriend, Chloe (Faris), and Nat’s handsome American client Guy (Baker), could offer attractive alternatives.

With their first anniversary approaching, neither wants to be the first to give up, but will they make it?”

Rafe Spall (Life of Pi), Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids), Anna Faris (Scary Movie), and Simon Baker (The Mentalist) star as the leading quartet. And joining them is an excellent supporting cast, headed up by Stephen Merchant (An Idiot Abroad), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), Olivia Colman (Tyrannosaur), and Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels).

Oscar nominee Mazer (Borat, Brüno) is directing from his own script, making his feature debut behind the camera.

Working Title Films are responsible for bringing us some of the most memorable romantic comedies in British cinema since the ’90s, including Love Actually and Wimbledon. And it looks all but guaranteed that I Give It A Year will be the next memorable entry into a genre that of course also includes Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill.

I Give It A Year will be released in the UK on 8th February, which is thankfully only two and a half weeks away. Still no word yet on a US release date, but here’s to hoping it will be a big hit on our shores, and then sail across the Atlantic later this year. For now, here are the new character posters, which you can click through to enlarge.
