Paul Laverty and Ken Loach

It’s not often you get to interview a true legend of cinema but last week, we got the chance to sit down with Director Ken Loach for his new movie Jimmy’s Hall which is always said to be his last feature film. The movie is out in cinemas now and tells the true life story of James (Jimmy) Gralton, a political activist who was deported from Ireland during the country’s ‘Red Scare’ of the 1930s.

During the interview, we get to hear from actors Barry Ward and Simone Kirby who talk about working with the great Director, and from Loach himself, what it was aboot this story which was so appealing to tell. We also hear from Writer Paul Laverty about how these political movies are so poignant at the moment with so much change especially in and around Europe.

The interviews are conducted by Nia Childs who is a massive fan of Loach and right at the end of the interview, we get to hear her attempt to convince Loach to make more movies, a valiant effort we think you’ll agree!

Jimmy’s Hall is in cinemas now and you can see our review of the film here.
