The Hollywood Reporter has news that Tudors star Henry Cavill will play the lead in thriller The Cold Light of Day.

Here’s the synopsis:

Thus Hitchcockian thriller follows Will Shaw, a young Wall Street trader whose family is kidnapped on a vacation to Spain. He’s left with only hours to find them, uncover a government conspiracy and the connection between their disappearance and his father’s secrets.

French filmmaker Mabrouk El Mechri, who made the intriguing Jean-Claude Van Damme meta-action drama JCVD, is on board as director and acclaimed novelist and sometime screenwriter Richard Price is on rewrite duties.

Cavell has been on the cusp of stardom for a long time (he was shortlisted for the role of Superman in Bryan Singer’s version) and this film, alongside his role in visual genius Tarsem Singh’s new feature Immortals, could finally place him firmly within the A-list.
