G.I.-Joe-Retaliation-PosterG.I. Joe: Retaliation will be making its long-awaited debut in theatres this March, and judging by all we’ve seen so far, it’s going to be an epic, adrenaline-fuelled ride. And I can’t wait for it to hit.

Paramount will soon be giving us their first blockbuster of the year in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, opening in the US this weekend, and they’ve announced that they’ll be attaching a 4-minute preview for G.I. Joe: Retaliation to it in 3D and IMAX 3D around the world from this Thursday.

And as a taster of what to expect, they’ve debuted ninety seconds of it online. And it looks awesome.

“A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.”

Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Lee Byung-hun reprise their roles from the first film, with Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Elodie Yung, Ray Stevenson, RZA, D.J. Cotrona, Walton Goggins, Jonathan Pryce, and Bruce Willis himself completing the cast as Joe Colton.

Jon M. Chu is behind the camera, directing from a script penned by the brilliant Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland).

It looks set to be a very big few months for the studio, and giving a four-minute taste of G.I. Joe: Retaliation in theatres from this weekend is a very smart move. The film was originally to be released last summer, before the studio decided to push it back, giving time for some re-shoots and a 3D post-conversion. And now they’re back on the offensive, teasing great new footage, which shows we’re in for a lot of fun this March.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be released in 3D (and quite possibly IMAX 3D) on 27th March in the UK, with its US release date set for 29th March. And as of this Thursday, the four-minute preview will be attached to Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters around the world. Here’s the awesome new trailer to give you an idea of what to expect.
