Landing in US cinemas in just over a month’s time, Free Birds marks Relativity Media’s entrance into the world of animation.
The comedy, previously titled Turkeys, boasts a fantastic voice cast, led by Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, and Amy Poehler. And that, alone, should be encouragement enough.
With just a few more weeks before it touches down across the Atlantic, the studio has launched the new trailer and poster over on Fandango, giving a new look at the adventurous little birds.
In this hilarious, adventurous buddy comedy for audiences of all ages, directed by Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!), two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history – and get turkey off the Thanksgiving menu for good.
Joining the leading trio in the voice cast are Dan Fogler, Lesley Nicol, George Takei, Colm Meaney, Keith David, Eddie “Piolin” Sotelo, and Dwight Howard.
Jimmy Hayway (Horton Hears a Who!) is at the helm, with John J. Strauss (There’s Something About Mary) and David I. Stern (Open Season 2) penning the script.
Free Birds will be released on November 1st in the US, a good few weeks before Thanksgiving, with its UK release date interestingly set much closer to the holiday on 29th November. It will be very interesting to see if Relativity emerges as a reliable new animation house in the years to come if Free Birds is a hit.
