This summer, Sony bring us the Total Recall remake. Next summer: RoboCop.
The viral and proper campaigns for Total Recall have been underway for some time, and now the studio are getting the ball rolling early for RoboCop, releasing the first viral clip and images for OmniCorp.
Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) will be leading the way as Alex Murphy / RoboCop, with a very promising support cast headed up by Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, and the brilliant Hugh Laurie as the antagonist – it doesn’t get much sweeter than that.
Acclaimed Brazilian director José Padilha (Elite Squad) will be behind the camera, and though Sony will be taking Hotel Transylvania, Total Recall, Looper, and next year’s Elysium to Comic-Con this week, keep your fingers crossed for a RoboCop-related surprise.
OmniCorp has set up its own site and Facebook, so we can expect plenty more to come between now and next summer ahead of the film’s release. For now, here’s the first viral clip introducing you to the world we can look forward to on the big screen next summer.
RoboCop is set for release on 9th August, 2013, and is currently not going up against anything – though it is the height of the summer, so that could well change by the time it rolls around. For now, the first viral clip and images to enjoy. As usual with the latter, you can click to enlarge.
