Following the brilliant new trailer we saw last month for Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike, Warner Bros. have released the first US poster for the upcoming dramatic comedy led by Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, and Matthew McConaughey.
Inspired by the events of Tatum’s own life as a male stripper in his younger years, before making a successful career from his acting, the film will be Soderbergh’s third-final film before taking (what I hope will be temporary) retirement / a hiatus from directing.
“A dramatic comedy set in the world of male strippers, “Magic Mike” is directed by Academy Award(R)-winning director Steven Soderbergh (“Traffic”) and stars Channing Tatum in a story inspired by his real life. The film follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.”
Alongside the leading stripping quintet will also star Olivia Munn, Riley Keough, and Cody Horn, with Reid Carolin making his screenwriting debut.
What we’ve seen so far from the film suggests it’s going to be very much feel-good, which sounds perfect for its summer release, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing Tatum and Soderbergh back together on this.
Magic Mike will be released in the US at the end of this month on 29th June before coming to the UK a little later for a 13th July release. As usual with this great first poster, debuted over at Apple, you can click to enlarge.
