Robert Zemeckis’ Flight is set to close the NYFF at the end of next week, seeing the director return to live-action for the first time since 2000’s Oscar-nominated Cast Away.

Denzel Washington takes the lead in the anticipated dramatic thriller, and after catching the first official poster for the film yesterday, Paramount have released the first two TV spots, along with the US poster.

“In this action-packed mystery thriller, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on that plane?”

Zemeckis is directing from a script by John Gatins (Coach Carter, Real Steel), with John Goodman, Kelly Reilly, and Melissa Leo completing the cast.

Flight will be released in US theatres on 2nd November, before coming to the UK a little later for a 1st February, 2013 release. We’ve got a while to wait before we see it on our shores, but Washington is naturally usually worth the wait. For now, here are the first two TV spots, followed by the US poster, which you can click to enlarge.
