Here’s the trailer and poster for the latest Bill Murray movie, although the supporting cast is in the rare position of overshadowing the leading man as Olivias Williams and Colman are also on board Roger Michell’s Hyde Park on Hudson.
Murray takes the lead as Franklin D. Roosevelt and the film details the affair between FDR and his cousin Margaret Stuckley, played by Laura Linney, and the film takes place while the Queen (Colman) is visiting the US.
“In June 1939, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor host the King and Queen of England for a weekend at the Roosevelt home at Hyde Park on Hudson, in upstate New York — the first-ever visit of a reigning English monarch to America. With Britain facing imminent war with Germany, the Royals are desperately looking to FDR for support. But international affairs must be juggled with the complexities of FDR’s domestic establishment, as wife, mother, and mistresses all conspire to make the royal weekend an unforgettable one.
Seen through the eyes of Daisy, Franklin’s neighbor and intimate, the weekend will produce not only a special relationship between two great nations, but, for Daisy — and through her, for us all — a deeper understanding of the mysteries of love and friendship.”
Having Linney and Murray for his last film is a genuine boon for Michell whose previous films include the miss-and-hit comedy Morning Glory and the languid swansong romance Venus with Peter O’Toole and Jodie Whittaker.
Previously titled Hyde Park on the Hudson, the film is due out in the US at the beginning of December and a UK date has yet to be announced.
Ok, it’s nearly the weekend – indulge yourself with a bit of Murray why don’t you?
