Much-Ado-About-Nothing-PosterJoss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing has been one of my favourite films of the year, and instantly became one of my favourite films of all time when I saw its world premiere at TIFF – you can read our five-star review here.

We saw a beautiful promo poster revealed at the American Film Market a month ago, where a photo of the poster was snapped, and now the first poster has officially debuted online, giving us a wonderful look at leading stars Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker.

“Shakespeare’s classic comedy gets a contemporary spin in Joss Whedon’s stylized adaptation. Shot in just twelve days using the original text, the story of sparring lovers Beatrice (Amy Acker) and Benedick (Alexis Denisof) offers a dark, sexy and occasionally absurd view of the intricate game that is love.”

Starring alongside Acker and Denisof is a fantastic supporting cast, headed up by Fran Kranz, Clark Gregg, Sean Maher, Jillian Morgese, Ashley Johnson, Tom Lenk, Reed Diamond, and the ever-brilliant Nathan Fillion – a dream cast for any fan of Whedon’s work.

Whedon is behind the camera, having penned the adaptation of the original Shakespeare play, and shot it in his own home and garden grounds in just twelve days, in the midst of getting ready to release The Avengers.

Truly, Whedon is a king among men.

His adaptation is a brilliant interpretation of the original play – the history Whedon expands upon between Beatrice and Benedick is nothing but beautiful.

Much Ado About Nothing is set for a limited release in the US on 7th June, 2013, before opening further on 21st June. Though we haven’t yet heard when we’ll be seeing it in the UK, Kaleidoscope will be releasing it on our shores, and here’s to hoping we’ll see it arrive at the same time. I cannot wait to see it again. It truly is a masterpiece*.

*I would like to note that, although the poster features four stars for our review, we did give it five stars, because it is quite simply flawless.
