When Andrea Arnold announced she would be following up her acclaimed film Fish Tank with an adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights an air of expectation whipped up around the production, which had been in one stage or another for a good few years before. Arnold’s Red Road and the award winning Fish Tank marked her as a genuine talent, one whom the world of film would be paying close attentiont to.

Casting began with the role of Cathy going to Skins actress Kaya Scodelario and then Streetdance 3D’s Nichola Burley joined as Isabella but the role of Heathcliff remained unfilled with rumours that Arnold was looking for someone, an unknown like Fish Tank’s Katie Jarvis, to take on the iconic role. She found her man in Leeds born James Howson, and the young ages of the cast will certainly add a new dimension to the proceedings particularly as we’re used to seeing actors in their thirties taking on the roles.

Film4’s shiny new Facebook page has the picture by Agatha A. Nitecka and I’d advise ‘Liking’ the page as it seems to be the place for all the new stuff from Film4 productions.
