Courtesy of EW, we have our first look at 127 Hours, Danny Boyle’s upcoming mountaineering drama. The first image in question shows James Franco, who plays Aron Ralston; while the second shows Franco, script in hand, on-set with Danny Boyle.

Starring alongside Franco is Lizzy Caplan, Kate Mara, Amber Tamblyn, Clemence Poesy, Darin Southam, Elizabeth Hales and Kate Burton.

Synopsis: 127 Hours is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston’s (Franco) remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, scale a 65 foot wall and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued. Throughout his journey, Ralston recalls friends, lovers (Poesy), family, and the two hikers (Tamblyn and Mara) he met before his accident. Will they be the last two people he ever had the chance to meet?

Boyle’s 127 Hours will have it’s world premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, which runs from September 9 – 19. The film will then open in the US on November 5.
