Fast-and-Furious-6-PosterUniversal launched Justin Lin’s Fast and Furious 6 at the start of the month in the best way possible for a blockbuster: With a 60-second Super Bowl TV spot. They followed that up with an extended full-length first trailer.

And tonight they’ve debuted another great Fast and Furious 6 preview with a theatrical-length trailer.

“Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe.  But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.

Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez).  The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London.  Payment?  Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.”

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are once more front and centre here. And the leading duo are joined by Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, Luke Evans, Joe Taslim, Tyrese Gibson, Gina Carano, Gal Gadot, Elsa Pataky, and the excellent Sung Kang. The ensemble for Fast Five was absolutely brilliant, and it looks like Fast and Furious 6 has really out-done itself.

Lin is behind the camera once more, having helmed the third, fourth, and fifth instalments, and he’s directing from a script penned by Chris Morgan, who’s written all the films in the series that Lin has directed.

Fast and Furious 6 is set to open on 24th May in the UK and US, and is pretty much guaranteed to be one of the best and biggest films of the year. I can’t tell you how much I can’t wait for this to land.
