Michelle-Rodriguez-and-Vin-Diesel-in-Fast-and-Furious-6We thought that Letty had died back in 2009 in Fast & Furious, but fans of the franchise will know that things were blown wide open in the mid-credits scene of Fast Five when Dwayne Johnson and Eva Mendes showed us a photograph of a familiar face. And if that’s not enough to get the anticipation rising for Fast and Furious 6, I don’t know what is.

We’ve seen a handful of images over the past few months, both stills and photos from the set, but one thing we’ve been missing is our first look at Michelle Rodriguez, whose performance in this summer’s blockbuster I really can’t wait for.

But with just over four months to go before the film hits the big screen, Vin Diesel has once more been kind enough to share a still through his Facebook, giving us our first look at Rodriguez, and confirming that the first trailer will be hitting early next month at the Super Bowl:

“Memorial Day Weekend 2013!

P.s. Trailer premieres at the Super Bowl… 3 weeks away!”

You’d better believe that’s going to be one hell of a trailer, and the Super Bowl is the perfect launching pad for the film. It’s an expensive buy, but it’ll be worth every penny.

And since Universal haven’t given the film a year-long campaign, but have been steadily spreading it through production by teasing images from the film’s and actors’ own social media accounts, you can imagine that they’ll have saved enough there to make the Super Bowl spot a little more reasonable.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, which is awesome given that we’re a matter of months away from its arrival. Odds are good that that will be changing once the first trailer hits, so if you’re after a synopsis, it’s no doubt coming soon.

Diesel and Rodriguez are returning alongside a handful of new and familiar faces, headed up by Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, Luke Evans, Joe Taslim, Tyrese Gibson, Gina Carano, Gal Gadot, and the excellent Sung Kang.

Justin Lin is back in the director’s chair, having helmed the third, fourth, and fifth instalments, and he’s directing from a script penned by Chris Morgan, who’s written all the films in the series that Lin has directed.

Fast and Furious 6 has its UK and US release date set for 24th May, and that is a date that can’t come fast enough. It will be opening against Epic and The Hangover Part III, and I for one am hoping that it’ll be Diesel, Walker, and co. that come out on top at the end of the weekend. For now, here’s our first look at Rodriguez, officially alive and well – I can’t wait to see how they’ve brought her back.
