Fantastic-FourFantastic Four has been undergoing the reboot treatment for the past few years, with Fox keen to get the superhero quartet back on the big screen to shore up their comic book blockbuster franchises.

This summer saw Josh Trank (Chronicle) officially announced as the reboot’s director, and now the film’s release date has been confirmed as 6th March, 2015.

Exhibitor Relations also report that the studio will be releasing The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 3D, with each being converted to the format in post-production.

Trank made an immaculate debut with Chronicle this year, with the found-footage sci-fi film taking its $15m. budget and turning it into almost $130m. at the box office.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding the director and what he’ll be bringing to the Fantastic Four franchise.

The first two films saw Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis star as Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and The Thing, respectively. And with a new film beckons a new cast.

As of yet, there’s no word on who’ll be going in front of cameras as the heroic quartet this time around, but it’s definitely one we’re looking forward to hearing about casting.

Trank will be directing from a script by frequent collaborators Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class), and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.

Fox have chosen a year already brimming with blockbusters, with the release of The Avengers 2, the Justice League movie, Ant-Man, and Star Wars Episode VII all expected to hit theatres that year. And adding Fantastic Four into that mix gives us another brilliant film to look forward to, which will hopefully be the start of a new franchise in the years to come.

Fantastic Four is now set for release on 6th March, 2015. And that is definitely a date you’ll want to commit to memory. More as we get it.
