Epic marks the latest animated production from Blue Sky Studios, the people who have brought us Ice Age, Robots, and Rio over the years, and will soon be bringing Peanuts to the big screen in 2015.
Naturally, there’s plenty of anticipation surrounding the film, with the latest trailer only raising the bar further back in November. With just a few more months to go before it hits the big screen, we saw an excellent new poster debut last week. And now we’ve got what looks to be the first in a set of character posters to share.
“EPIC is a 3D CG action-adventure comedy that reveals a hidden world unlike any other. From the creators of ICE AGE and RIO, EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good who keep the natural world alive and the forces of evil who wish to destroy it. When a teen age girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters in order to save their world… and ours.”
The impressive voice cast is led by Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Christoph Waltz, Jason Sudeikis, Pitbull, Steven Tyler, Aziz Ansari, Blake Anderson, Judah Friedlander, and Beyoncé Knowles.
Chris Wedge (Ice Age) is taking the helm for his third feature, directing from a script by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember (Get Smart) and Daniel Shere.
Epic will be hitting theatres in 3D on 24th May in the UK and US. That release date puts it head-to-head with Fast and Furious 6 and The Hangover Part III, making for a very competitive weekend at the box office.
