Elysium-Comic-Con-PosterNeill Blomkamp’s return behind the camera for Elysium really couldn’t be more anticipated.

On a par with only a handful of directors in recent years – think Gareth Edwards and Duncan Jones – he made a remarkable debut with District 9, and we’re naturally incredibly excited about his sophomore effort.

Sony have taken the film out to Comic-Con this weekend, ahead of its release next month. And now we’ve got two great new Mondo posters to share, created by Martin Ansin, which will be on sale in San Diego from Sunday (booth #936).

The regular edition is a run of 380, and will be sold for , whilst the variant is a run of 175, and sold for , with the regular edition also set to be made available online in the near future.

The impoverished inhabitants of a ruined planet Earth fight to join the safe and pristine living conditions of the space station Elysium, where only the wealthy and healthy reside. In need of medical treatment only available on Elysium, one resident of the planet’s slums attempts to reach the space station at any cost, and his actions could offset the entire balance of haves and have-nots.

Matt Damon is front and centre here, and I can’t wait to see him in action. He’ll be joined by Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner, Diego Luna, Alice Braga, and Faran Tahir.

Blomkamp is once more directing from his own script, with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes) producing.

Elysium is set to hit regular and IMAX cinemas on August 9th in the States, with its UK release date sadly set a little later for 20th September. In the meantime, here are the new posters from Mondo, which are, as ever, very impressive.
