Variety is reporting that Elizabeth Banks (Slither) is attached to star in a live-action Tinkerbell film, succinctly titled ‘Tink‘. Little is known about the project, which is being labelled a romantic comedy.

The movie, which “plays on the mischievous nature of the Tinkerbell character”, will be produced by Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and McG. Elizabeth Wright Shapiro, who helped develop the project with McG, is set to pen the script.

Banks, who will next be seen in Paul Haggis’ The Next Three Days alongside Russell Crowe, is perhaps best known for her role in Scrubs as Zach Braff’s love interest. She has also had notable roles in Zach and Miri Make a Porno, The Uninvited and as Betty Brant in the Spider-Man franchise.

Despite the actresses involvement, and even though there has been a number of individuals shepherding the movie into production, the involvement of McG can’t help but turn a few noses. After all, Charlies Angels, Charlies Angels: Full Throttle and Terminator: Salvation were, if we’re being honest, a bit rubbish.

That said, the last time Disney went live-action with the J. M. Barrie’s universe we were treated to Peter Pan (2003), a surprisingly mature take on the character and world.

Bank’s involvement may be a step in the right direction, but whether she warrants enough pixie-dust to raise ‘Tink‘ in our estimations has yet to be seen.
