Edge-of-Tomorrow-Comic-Con-Poster-slice

One of the biggest movies headed to Comic-Con this year was undeniably Doug Liman’s Edge of Tomorrow, which teased three epic first posters at the summer convention.

With less than six months to go before the film hits the big screen, Warner Bros. has now launched the first trailer, giving us an awesome first good look at the upcoming sci-fi/actioner.

The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt are front and centre on the action, with Bill Paxton, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, and Franz Drameh rounding out the ensemble cast.

Based on the original graphic novel, All You Need Is Kill, by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, Liman (The Bourne Identity, Jumper) is at the helm, directing from a script penned by Dante Harper (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters).

Edge of Tomorrow will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 30th May, 2014 in the UK, with its US release date set for the following week on June 6th. In the meantime, here’s the first trailer. Enjoy.
