Don-Jon-PosterJoseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut, Don Jon, has continued picking up very encouraging reviews on the festival circuit, making a recent appearance at TIFF following its Sundance bow at the start of the year.

The anticipated comedy heads into US cinemas tomorrow, and all signs point to a big opening, with Gordon-Levitt also starring in front of the camera opposite Scarlett Johansson. With just one more day to go before it lands on the big screen, a new clip has surfaced in which the two flirt on what looks to be a first date, with Gordon-Levitt looking to disguise his tracking down Johansson on Facebook.

Jon Martello (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a strong, handsome, good old fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to “pull” a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn’t compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) is a bright, beautiful, good old fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she’s determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset. Wrestling with good old fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy in this unexpected comedy written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Brie Larson, Glenne Headly, and Rob Brown complete the ensemble cast nicely.

Gordon-Levitt is directing from his own script, making his feature debut as a writer as well. And past collaborator Ram Bergman (Looper, Brick) is producing alongside executive producer Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker).

Don Jon will be released in the US tomorrow, September 27th. Here in the UK, it will be arriving a little later on 15th November, following an appearance at the BFI London Film Festival next month.
