Django-Unchained-PosterQuentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained has already picked up an impressive five Golden Globe nominations, and by the end of tomorrow, we’ll know if it will also be heading to the Oscars next month.

The film debuted in the US on Christmas Day, and has been playing to very strong numbers at the box office, already taking in over $100m. in the States alone.

The rest of the world beyond North America is eagerly awaiting its arrival, and now Sony have released a new 20-second TV spot ahead of its big screen debut in the UK next Friday.

“Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award(R)-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award(R)-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles–dead or alive.”

Jamie Foxx is front and centre here as the eponymous Django, with Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio both contenders for Best Supporting Actor in the height of the awards season. And starring alongside them is a fine cast, headed up by Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Jonah Hill, Don Johnson, and Walton Goggins.

Tarantino is naturally once more directing from his own script, with past collaborators Bob and Harvey Weinstein serving as executive producers.

Django Unchained is currently playing in the US, and fortunately we’ve not got much longer to wait for its arrival on our shores, with its UK release date set for 18th January. Until then, here’s the latest TV spot to get you in the mood. This is absolutely a must-see film of the year. Enjoy.
